DISTILLERIES
At present 87 (eighty seven) Single Malt distilleries and 06 (six) of Grain Whisky are working. In a Scotch Whisky bottle there are about 800 chemical components, of which 44 come from the oak barrel. In order to receive the title of Scotch Whisky, the product has to be distilled and aged in Scotland during a minimum period of three years. There is no such thing as two Scotch Whiskies alike, although sometimes two or more distilleries belong to the same owner, use the same barley, water, " pot still" , etc. They will always produce completely different final products...
Once Whisky is bottled the aging process comes to an end.
