The Brazilian Association
of Whisky Collectors - ABCW, created officially on the 28th of December, 1989,
by Mr. Claive Vidiz and by a group of friends, is an entity with strict By-Laws
whose objective is to promote the culture represented by Whisky, congregate
and gather people devoted to the acquisition of knowledge and appreciation of
Scotch Whisky, promoting it culturally by means of lectures, courses and a monthly
newsletter. In the same way, the Association fosters a higher interchange between
those who dedicate themselves amateurishly to reunite the greatest possible
number of available Scotch Whisky brands. Today the ABCW relies on the support
from members of all parts of Brazil and has an enormous prestige among the Scotch
Whisky distilleries in Scotland, as well as in the S.W.A. (Scotch Whisky Association).
The Association promotes cultural trips to Scotland and in its archives there
are, among others, an audio-visual about Scotch Whisky history and production,
videos about the 6 classical malts, a library with specialised books and magazines.
All the great events on Scotch Whisky during these 12 last years had the participation
or were the total responsibility of the ABCW, such as:
